TROPICAL CYCLONE “JOBO” IN THE INDIAN OCEAN-NORTH OF MADAGASCAR


Dar es Salaam, 22nd April, 2021:


This statement issues the update of a tropical cyclone named “Jobo” which is currently 

located at the north of Madagascar in the Indian ocean. 

Tropical cyclone Jobo continued to intensify and moved towards our country where 

by during the night of 23th April 2021, the tropical cyclone is expected to be at a 

distance of 410 Kilometres from the coast of Lindi region. However, strength of the 

cyclone Jobo is expected to be reduced as it moved towards the coastal belt of 

Tanzania.


Moreover, the presence of tropical cyclone Jobo may impact weather systems by 

influencing periods of strong winds and enhanced rains along the coastal belts.


ADVISORY: Tanzania Meteorological Agency (TMA) advises all users to make weather 

follow-ups and good use of warnings and weather updates issued by the Tanzania 

Meteorological Agency and to continue seeking and utilizing experts’ advice on their relevant sectors to reduce the associated impacts.


Tanzania Meteorological Authority is continuing to monitor the progress of tropical 

cyclone Jobo and its associated impacts on weather systems and issue updates 

whenever necessary.
