DR. KIJAZI ARGUED SCIENTIST TO KEEP PACE WITH RAPID CHANGE OF TECHNOLOGY ON DEMAND OF QUALITY WEATHER FORECAST.


Kibaha, Pwani;14th December 2021.

“Keeping pace with rapid change of technology in data processing and meet an increasing demand and needs of quality and user -friendly information is among the challenges that need to be addressed by National Meteorological Services including Tanzania Meteorological Authority (TMA), particularly when considering increasing climate variability and changes in the climate system”. Urged Dr. Agnes Kijazi, TMA Director General and Third Vice President of Word Meteorological Organization (WMO) during the official opening of training workshop on the latest long rabge forecasting Tools held at Kibaha, Pwani from 13th – 16th December 2021.

On additional to that, Dr. Kijazi insisted the participants to ensure they acquire new skills, become conversant with forecasting tools in order to enhance forecasting services at TMA as well as meeting increasing demand of quality weather forecast.

The aim of the training is to enhancing the capacity of TMA in accessing, understanding and use the Latest Long-Range Forecasting Tools. It is supported by Korean Meteorological Administration (KMA) through the Word Meteorological Organization (WMO) with technical support from IGAD Climate Prediction and Application Centre (ICPAC).
