SEVERE WEATHER EVENTS- EFFECTIVE PLANNING (SWEEP) TRAINING WORKSHOP HELD FROM 16 TO 27 MAY, 2016, DAR ES SALAAM, TANZANIA


Workshop is held under the auspice of the Pilot Project called “The Multi Hazard Early Warning Service (MHEWS)” which focuses on the coastal zone of Tanzania and across sectors of Marine transport, Fishing, Agriculture, and Oil & Gas. MHEWS project is being funded by DFID trough the WISER program.

The objective of  SWEEP Workshop is to ensure all stakeholders have a shared and consistent understanding of the features and benefits of the Multi-hazard Early Warning Services to effective planning.


Expected output is to equip participants with all the necessary skills and provide information on the characteristics of the extremes and enable improved warning messages, timely and effective communication among actors which will solely serve lives and property and enhance socio-economic development in the country.
