Mafunzo hayo yalihusisha vipengele vilivyojikita katika ‘Modelling of the Earth Climate System’, ‘downscaling techniques, designing RCM experiments’, ‘LINUX’, ‘uncertainties in the model and data analysis’.

DR. KIJAZI URGUED ON THE BEST USE OF A SCIENTIFIC CLIMATE MODELLING SYSTEMS.

The Director General of Tanzania Meteorological Agency (TMA) and Permanent representative of Tanzania wth the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) Dr. Agnes Kijazi urged on the use of scientific climate modelling systems based on PRECIS. During the closing ceremony of training workshop on Climate Modelling held in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania which took place from 29th June to 03rd July 2015, Dr. Kijazi called for all participants to make good use of the knowledge received as well as ensuring positive changes and good contributions into their respective services delivery. Dr. Kijazi also thanked the Government of Norway, the WMO and UK Met Office and for the support through Global Framework for Climate Services (GFCS) project. The workshop was attended by a number of meteorologists from TMA and Malawi Meteorological Department.

On behalf of other participants, Mr. Clement from Malawi Meteorological Department thanked the facilitators and organizers of the workshop and insisted that participants will use the knowledge to develop the best products for specific use such as agriculture and health for specific in respectively area.

The training topics based on Modelling of the Earth Climate System, downscaling techniques, designing RCM experiments, LINUX, uncertainties in the model and data analysis. The training was conducted in collaboration between TMA and UK Met Office. The topics were very useful and will contribute well to the process of addressing the challenges posed by climate change in various socio-economic sectors.
